Northland Homes and Dirt Inc. are owned and operated by Rob Irving. Rob offers a lifetime of design and build experience. A lifetime Duluthian, Rob received a $1,000.00 signature loan back in 1991 to start his first business manufacturing golf display fixtures. Over the next several years he saw his business grow to over 20 employees. The company provided golf fixtures for all of the leading sporting good stores including, Dicks Sporting Goods, Sears, Scheels Sporting Goods, Sportmart just to name a few, as well as the most prestigious golf courses in America including, Augusta National, Pebble Beach, Trump International, and movie props for Tin Cup.
As Rob’s company grew he diversified into custom cabinetry and kitchens and started Hermantown Millwork in 1994. His hands on approach gave him vast experience in not only maintaining schedules and quality control but function and design as well. In 2003 Rob started home building and land developments such as Pine Meadows of Esko, Oak Hills in Carlton and Maple Village in Hermantown. In 2006 he started Dirt Inc. which has successfully developed over 130 lots and homes in the Duluth and surrounding areas. Rob was instrumental in acquisition of land and design of the Maple Village Development located in Hermantown MN. It features over a mile of lighted sidewalks, including business at the entrance of the development then twin townhouses and then the single family homes. Rob worked extensively with City Administrators as well as City Engineers, City Attorneys to complete this project. Rob is quoted as saying, “I am very proud to be able to live in a neighborhood I built as well as have neighbors of homes I have built for and have seen those relationships grow into great friendships”.
